Windows 7 install disc fails to see hard disk after ubuntu install after i tried to make a dual boot with ubuntu and windows 7 ultimate (64-bit), windows now does not boot. i have tried to reinstall and repair the hdd but the disc fails to recognize my hdd (western digital scorpio black 500 gb).. 1. replacing a faulty with a good used hard disk drive. the old hard disk became faulty with so much bad sectors. could not enter windows at all and could not re-install windows into it..
Windows 7 disk for replacing hard disk. i may be changing my windows 7 hp p7 1234 hard drive soon. the drive is not failing, but i am overhauling the entire system to better fit my needs.. Format the target disk as ntfs. copy the boot and sources directory and the bootmgr file from the vista dvd or image to the root of the newly formatted disk.; start a command prompt and issue the following commands - where x is the drive letter of the newly formmated disk. x: cd /boot bootsect x: boot from the disk - windows setup should load. One of the simplest method of installing windows 7 is by mounting the downloaded iso using daemon tools and then running the setup from the mounted virtual drive.but problem here is that the setup skips the pre installation environment .so you cannot install windows 7 to a virtual hard disk..
